Last year for New Year's, we got some new plants, because if you remember, I was very much about - New Year, New Me, renewal, etc. Still am. And a plane to my symbolized that. We got some lovely Bromeliads from LivelyRoot. It was great for Callan as well because he helped me take care of them. I think a plant is a lovely gift idea at the holidays. And the folks at LivelyRoot agree. They believe everyone deserves a plant! Regardless of your plant knowledge, they can be your source of information, connection, and inspiration as you develop your love of horticulture. They only sell eco-friendly products and their plants are grown from seedlings and shipped fresh from their nursery to your door.
Unfortunately our Bromeliads did not make the cross country move with us from Minnesota to Florida, so I was super excited to be able to get a new plant. This time a super cool Snake Plant to begin with! The leading commercial variety of Sansevieria, known and grown for the hemp-like fiber in the leaves. It's an interesting and attractive plant that is also durable for a wide range of conditions. It's an easy plant to care for and makes for a great addition to your personal green space. Species of the Sansevieria genus are recommended for air purification – particularly within the home and office.
Fun fact: Under perfect conditions, a snake plant may produce a bloom. Flowers are born in large clusters and are generally white with a greenish tinge. They emit a sweet floral fragrance that can fill a room. They won't bloom with any regularity, as most bud just once every several years.
