Breast Cancer! You're Kidding....Right?

Breast Cancer! You're Kidding...Right? by Catherine Doughty

About The Book:
For the first time ever, there is a book that speaks to anyone, with any stage of breast cancer, and provides scientific methodology with accompanying tools, decision matrices, guidance and support, peppered with amazing humor. The book provides strategy on how to determine and select life saving or life threatening treatment planning in an uncertain decision space. After reading this book, you will be able to establish and maintain continual communication with your medical team, achieve the outcome and results you desire while alleviating the stress and fear that can accompany a breast cancer diagnosis. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and provide a calming strategy to see you from any point in the cancer treatment planning stages and post treatment.

My Thoughts:
This book is compassionate, funny, honest, and helpful book for those facing the overwhelming experience of being consumed by a medical intervention to save their life - no matter the illness, though this book is geared for breast cancer. It flows very well. You get caught up in the drama of wanting to know what happens next. I do not have breast cancer, though I know many women who do, and I think this would be a great gift book to your friends who get this disease.

About The Author:
Catherine Doughty, MS, CCHI, holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Informatics from The University of Texas School of Biomedical Informatics. In addition to her career as Director for the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Imaging, she is a trained Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. She also serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor for three universities. For the first time in book form, Cathy provides an intensive understanding and step-by-step guide utilizing Six Sigma methodology to navigate complex issues and medical decision making in an uncertain decision space that each patient experiences during a cancer diagnosis and treatment planning. Her personal experience, paired with her sense of humor and expertise, is woven throughout this book and provides insights on how to utilize a tool set to see how information being refracted can be misrepresented through the prism of uncertainty. She will walk you through every phase of the treatment phases with decision matrices, consultation forms, discussion documents, and give you advice and tips while keeping you intact, on the edge of your seat, and empowered throughout every page.

I received a complimentary review copy of this book from Pump Up Your Book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

  1. This book was more to me than a wonderful resource when dealing with a diagnosis with an uncertain outcome. It was a compelling honest example of the growth that is experienced when facing uncertainty with courage and strength even as you are stripped down and broken. A truly inspriational helpful reminder that we are not our body.. we are so much more at the perfect time.
