Valentine’s Day Weddings *Guest Blogger*

Valentine’s Day is without doubt the most romantic day for a wedding. Forget about a Christmas or summer wedding, Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for loved up couples to make a commitment to one another. With everyone thinking about the person they love on this special day, it’s hard to think of a better time to tell the world who you want to spend the rest of your life with. Here are a few things to think about if you’re planning a Valentine’s Day wedding:

It’s a busy day for lots of people.
It may feel like it sometimes, but you’re not the only couple in the world so other people may have romantic plans on Valentine’s Day. If you want to get married on or around February 14th, you’ll want to give your guests plenty of notice just in case they’re planning a romantic holiday or meal. It may also be a tricky time to find a babysitter as they’ll be in demand, so you may either have to be prepared to have children at your wedding or to accept that some guests with kids won’t be able to make it.

Two special occasions become one.
Most couples will celebrate Valentine’s Day and their anniversary, so if you’re having a Valentine’s Day wedding, these two occasions are packed into one day. You may like the sound of this as you can make February 14th very special every year, or you may hate the idea of missing out on an extra day to celebrate. If a double celebration seems like a bit of a disappointment, then you may want to reconsider holding your wedding on Valentine’s Day.

It’s a busy time for the wedding industry.
Another thing you’ll need to consider is the fact that lots of other couples will want to get married on Valentine’s Day. Everyone from your dress and cake makers to your florist may be busy with other orders and clients. If you’re well organized and can plan things long in advance then you should be fine with a Valentine’s wedding as you can make sure you get in with your requests early. If you’re less organized, or if you don’t want to be competing with other couples, perhaps consider another, less in demand date.
