Devil Dogs And Banana Slugs

Devil Dogs And Banana Slugs by Will Selling was quite interesting to read for me. Selling is a Desert Storm Vet and the book is the story of his experiences with both military and university and his conflict between the two and finding the balance. It is very well written and should be handed out to young men and women who are thinking of joining the military. Very real and very true.

About The Book: In Devil Dogs and Banana Slugs, author Will Selling gives a personal account of the differences and ensuing battles between academia and the military. From the university's focus on individual rights and freedom, emphasis on diversity and search for equality, to the military's focus on teamwork and unity, he gives insight to the current gap between the two disciplines. An excellent introduction to both fields, it is a perfect primer for anyone interested in both aspects of our society.

About The Author: Will Selling attended UC Santa Cruz in the 1980’s, ultimately graduating from Bates College, Lewiston, Maine with a B.A. in Religion. As a Marine reservist, he served during Operation Desert Storm, 1991 and in Iraq in 2006. He currently works as a Paramedic in California.
