Waking Up Joy Blog Tour

Waking Up Joy by Tina Ann Forkner

About The Book:
Joy’s meddling brothers and sisters seems to think Joy Talley did the unimaginable when she is found hanging from the roof, but she didn’t jump. Just because she’s a lonely woman over forty and her momma just passed away doesn’t mean she was finished with life. The truth is, Joy climbed on top of her family’s century old farm house to retrieve something she’d hidden in the old, unused chimney decades ago. She even tethered herself to the chimney with a rope just to be safe, but a lot of good that did her when she really did fall and that dratted rope tangled around her neck. When her brothers and sisters found her hanging like that, they naturally rushed to save her, but by that time Joy was unconscious, at least on the outside. Joy’s siblings, and the man she has loved for decades, have no idea that Joy can hear every word they say as she lays in a coma, even when some of them start planning her funeral. She can’t wait to wake up and give them a piece of her mind, but she doesn’t expect for her siblings to sneak her out of the hospital and to her momma’s funeral where she wakes up in front of the whole town only to be staring straight into her former lover Jimmy’s eyes. Jimmy still makes her heart race, even though he abandoned her decades. As if that’s not already a problem, she was still mad at him for ignoring the tragedy the two witnessed together that was still buried in the chimney back at Momma’s house. Nobody knows about it, except for Jimmy and Joy, but their buried secret is powerful enough that Joy can’t move on until some things are finally settled with the love of her past. Meanwhile, Joy runs into Doc, the younger, hunky doctor who saved her in the ER, only now he’s not her doctor anymore, he’s off duty, and sparks fly. Can Joy love someone new? Joy knows she has not only been sleeping through a coma, but through life, and now it’s time for her to wake up to her future. Much to the disapproval of her overprotective siblings, she comes up with lots of ways to find happiness, but until she deals with her past, her purpose will always be just out of her reach. How will Joy finally move on? Will she embrace the magical and charmed version of life that her Momma left with all her charmed teas, potions, and chocolate? Will she trust someone besides Jimmy with her past? And will she love again, or will she always be in love with the man in her past? Waking Up Joy is filled with family ties that break and bind, amusing escapades and wit, timeless love, and dark truths tempered with joyous moments.

My Thoughts:
Wow, this book packs a punch! So much going on in it! Love, mystery, family relationships, finding yourself, and much more! It is a very intriguing story, and I was hooked the whole way through! Great read!
