Fruit of the Loom Partners with DreamWorks Animator, Action Movie Kid

Fruit Of The Loom partnered with Action Movie Kid to show how parents can never be too prepared when it comes to their kids.

DreamWorks animator Daniel Hashimoto is behind the video series that has been developed into a children’s book and movie that is currently in the works. In Hashi’s videos, he turns his son into a superhero who gets carried away with his imagination while fighting monsters, aliens, and robots. Hashi created a special video for Fruit of the Loom to show how handy an extra pair of underwear can be. Fruit of the Loom’s bonus pack with boys’ and girls’ underwear comes with extra pairs - just in case.

How to be a Good Parent Without Being Overbearing

Where has the time gone? Your babies are growing into teenagers, and you just can't believe it. You want to make sure your children are safe and happy all the time, but you also want to give them room to grow into well-adjusted adults. The following are a few tips to help you be a good parent without being overbearing.

Transition Control

You've helped your children make all of their decisions, whether big or small, since the day they were born. As they grow into teenagers it can be difficult to give up some of that control over their lives. Instead of fighting for power, ease both your kids and yourself through this transitional phase into adulthood. Clinical psychologist Dan Griffin tells the Chicago Tribune that parents should start letting their kids make some of the decisions as early as eight or nine years old. Ask them where they want to go for dinner or what extracurricular activity they want to do after school. Griffin explains that if kids feel a sense of respect, they'll be more mature and engaged rather than resistant. Plus, the transition will help you get used to the idea of your kids growing up.

Encourage Responsibility

As you let your teens make more of their own decisions, you also should encourage them to take on more responsibilities. This can be part of the transitional phase so your kids don't get overwhelmed with adult responsibilities and you have enough time to teach them. For example, if they want to go to a movie with their friends, have them earn the money by doing chores around the house or getting a part-time job. Similarly, if they want to get into college, explain that it's up to them to earn good grades and fill out their applications on time. Let your teens know that you're always there to help them, but it is their responsibility to work for what they want to achieve in life.

Give Them Space

Your teens are dealing with a lot of changes in their lives, and that can be stressful. When they get home from school, give them some space to unwind and do what they want. Even if you have good intentions, asking questions the moment they walk in the door may feel like you're prying or don't trust them. Let your kids come to you to talk about their day or any problems they're having.
You also should give your kids some alone time. Your teens are learning to be independent and don't want to rely on you for every little thing. Let them stay home by themselves, extend their curfew and let them go out with friends. If you're nervous about their safety, install a home security system. Both you and your kids will feel safe knowing that the perimeter of the house is secure thanks to motion-activated push notifications sent straight to the home screen of your smartphone. This allows you to quickly check and notify your child and potentially the police of any threats. And you can also check in on them remotely if you want to make sure they made it home from school or if someone's at the door.

Listen More, Lecture Less

One of the best things you can do as the parent of teenagers is to listen. If your teenagers are complaining about a teacher, having a problem with a friend or feeling worried about college applications be there to listen. You don't need to solve all of their problems for them or tell them what to do. Sometimes they just need to vent their frustrations. Even if you have great advice, your teens may not want to hear it รข€” and that's OK. Instead of telling them what you would do in their situation, ask them what's going on and really listen. If they ask for your help, then feel free to jump in. Just be respectful of their feelings and know that it's perfectly normal for them to start figuring things out on their own.

The Benefits of Window Tinting

There are a lot of places in your home that you can change to add value and comfort. There's only one change that can help you add privacy, protection and energy savings from one product. With home window tinting, you can stay cool and keep out dangerous UV rays from inside your home. The key to gaining all of these benefits from your home is to tint all of your windows with the right shade that best meets your needs.

Better Climate Control
One of the biggest benefits of tinted windows throughout your home is the ability to have a steadier temperature throughout the year, especially in rooms that tend to get a lot of daily sunlight. Tinted windows can keep rooms cool in the summer and warm in the winter. This small change can also provide a big change for your wallet by saving on energy costs throughout the year, with your air conditioning and heating systems not having to work as hard to keep the interior temperature at your favorite comfort level.

Reducing Glare and Providing Privacy
Another benefit of having tinted windows in the home is the ability for the tint to reduce the glare that you see inside the home. This is helpful when you want to avoid harsh light due to watching television or working on a computer.

On the outside of your home, tinting provides you with a extra layer of privacy than traditional windows. While you will still have a clear view from the inside looking out, those who are looking into the windows will not be able to see inside your home at night or during the day, depending on the type of tint that you choose.

UV Protection
While the sun is an important part of daily life, it can also be a harsh part on the eyes, the skin and a variety of materials found in the home. With window tinting you can get protection from ultraviolet rays from entering your home. It can help reduce the effects on your body and on your home. This UV protection can help reduce damage and discoloration on furniture upholstery, tapestries, paintings and photographs.

Everything Must Go

Everything Must Go by Jenny Fran Davis

About The Book:
Flora Goldwasser has fallen in love. She won't admit it to anyone, but something about Elijah Huck has pulled her under. When he tells her about the hippie Quaker school he attended in the Hudson Valley called Quare Academy, where he'll be teaching next year, Flora gives up her tony upper east side prep school for a life on a farm, hoping to woo him. A fish out of water, Flora stands out like a sore thumb in her vintage suits among the tattered tunics and ripped jeans of the rest of the student body. When Elijah doesn't show up, Flora must make the most of the situation and will ultimately learn more about herself than she ever thought possible. Told in a series of letters, emails, journal entries and various ephemera, Flora's dramatic first year is laid out for all to see, embarrassing moments and all.

My Thoughts:
This is a great debut novel. I love how the book is set up like a journal, and letters, etc.. Makes for an interesting read. It is fun to read about Flora's transformation as she settles into her new life. Can't wait to read more by this author!

About The Author:
Jenny Fran Davis was born in Manhattan and spent four months avoiding (but later embracing) millet mountains in a peace- and justice-focused Quaker community in northern California. Fond of big dogs, doo-wop, and Judy Blume, she attended the Chapin School and is currently an undergraduate at Wesleyan University. Everything Must Go is her debut novel.
