Organic Bug Spray VS Synthetic Products

No one wants bug biting at them, especially not while they’re trying to enjoy the great outdoors. Squirting on some bug spray is one of the best ways to avoid such bites and irritation, but choosing between synthetic and organic bug spray can be a bit confusing.

If you find yourself wondering which is better, you’re not alone. There is often a debate over which is the most effective and whether synthetic products are safe. Before you shop for any bug spray, take the following information into account.

Synthetic bug spray is made from man-made chemicals, many of which are considered unsafe. For example, a common ingredient in bug repellent is DEET. While reviews are mixed, there have been studies showing that this chemical can impact the nervous system and more. Due to the potentially harmful ingredients, synthetic bug sprays must be registered through the EPA.

Organic bug spray is made from natural products, such as essential oils. As such, they do not require registration with the EPA. The ingredients are completely safe as long as you have no allergy to the specific plant the spray is made from. As with any other product, it’s always important to read the label to be sure.

Both synthetic and organic bug spray are effective. However, the way they work and the ingredients they include vary greatly. If you are looking for a way to repel insects without potential side effects of chemicals, organic bug spray is the best way to go.
