3 Ways to Save Time on Yardwork

There are many summertime delights. Swimming, camping, outdoor parties and hundreds of other activities are looked forward to with anticipation by most people who don’t get to enjoy warm weather all year long. With only a short while to enjoy summer, looking for ways to shorten the amount of time spent on chores and lengthen the time spent relaxing is a priority.

1. Artificial Turf

Lawns are a prominent feature of most homes. At their best, they are lush, vibrant and inviting. At their worst, they are a brown, scraggly eyesore. They need to be mowed and watered regularly, using up gas or electricity and thousands of gallons of water. Especially in areas prone to droughts, like California and Texas, consider saving time, money and natural resources by installing artificial grass Austin. Not only is it an environmentally friendly option, but it also lasts a long time and is designed to be durable. Kids and pets can play without any worry that the turf will break down.

2. Potted Plants

Elaborate gardens are beautiful, but they require a lot of maintenance. Gardening is a rewarding hobby for many people, yet not everyone has the time or the desire to spend hours weeding, planting and watering. Potted plants are lovely and easy to care for. They can be purchased in any size and placed anywhere in the yard. Many vegetables, fruits and flowers come in dwarf varieties nowadays, making it easier than ever to plant them in planters. To really save time, opt for a self-watering system to maintain them without constant tending.

3. Hardy Plants

Perennials are another fantastic way to have an attractive garden with minimal effort. There are options for all climates, even areas without much rainfall. If possible, get native plants, as they are naturally able to handle the weather conditions without much extra effort. Even annuals that are native to the region are more likely to reseed themselves and grow every year. Just be sure to keep an eye on them because if they are not kept in check, reseeding plants can spread beyond the area they were originally placed in.

It is possible to have a gorgeous yard without breaking the bank or frittering away precious free time on monotonous chores. Be creative and design the landscape to maintain itself as much as possible. Then spend a lot more time enjoying the results without breaking a sweat.
