When you turn the lid the gear inside transforms the torque to pump out air rapidly. Like a small engine working in your hand. Usually 5-6 turns pumps out 30% air. The indicator will sink and show you the vacuum has already been created. When you want to use the food inside, you  press the indicator for few seconds to release the air pressure. After that the product will be unlocked and it`s ready to open. Voila!
