November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month

Lung cancer is the deadliest cancer taking hundreds of thousands of lives every year. That’s more than breast, prostate and colon cancer combined. Because one in fourteen Americans will be diagnosed with lung cancer, regular screenings are very important. Smokers aren’t the only people with lung cancer. With 15% of lung cancer patients never having smoked in their life, this can happen to anyone. 50% of those diagnosed with lung cancer were ex-smokers and current smokers have a much higher chance of contracting the cancer. Funding for lung cancer is very minimal when compared to other cancers and when only 15% of lung cancer cases are diagnosed in the early stages, most patients have an uphill battle to recovery.
