Pets And Heaven by Neal Otto Hively
About The Book:
“Will my pet be in heaven?” Pets and Heaven is a comfort to those dealing with Pet Loss. The book provides accurate scriptural information about God’s love and care of all creation and the animal kingdom. The book also includes prayers for lost pets, sick pets, aging and dying pets. There is a comforting liturgy for the death of a beloved pet. The message is one of spiritual comfort based on over thirty Bible passages that detail the clear promises of God. Great quotes from twenty famous personalities on this topic: Rev. Billy Graham, Will Rogers, Albert Schweitzer, Martin Luther, Abraham Lincoln, Mark Twain (and others). For those with a new pet, there are prayers for adopting a new pet and for the naming of a pet, encouraging responsibility, sensitive love, and consistent nurture.
My Thoughts:
This is a nice book. It is short and simple and to the point. It has lovely passages about pets. This would be a wonderful gift to anyone you know who is an animal lover, or of course for yourself. This book may also help children deal with and understand the loss of a beloved pet. The pictures in this book are lovely and make you smile. I believe this book is one of a kind.
About The Author:
The Rev. Dr. Neal Otto Hively is an ordained Evangelical Lutheran Church in America clergyman. He has served parishes in south central Pennsylvania, and as Senior Pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Chambersburg, PA since 1994. He has published works relating to Pennsylvania Original Land Records for York, Adams and Franklin counties. He is married to Lee Codd of Bel Air, Maryland. They have two grown children, Christopher and Beth Ellen. In the spring 2010 the Hively s Maltese dog Calee died. Their veterinarian inquired if Dr. Hively was aware of any published work that would answer the question, Do animals go to heaven? Pets and Heaven is a result of that inquiry and is now commended to the reader - to determine their own more informed conclusion to that question.
