The Immortal Lost by H.R. Phillips
About The Book:
Dylan Black grew up as an outcast. She had few friends and even fewer she could trust. She lived a life of exile. Coping with her extraordinary abilities at an early age, she learned to hide what others found extremely bizarre. Until the day came that she discovered who and what she really was. It was the day the Immortals walked into her life, giving her the answers she had longed for. Or so she thought. Thrown into an unfamiliar world and hunted by those who desired to use her for her gifts, she has no choice but to trust in one man. A Guardian assigned to protect her and to keep her safe from the darkness that would surely enslave or destroy her. Alessar Belmonte was created to be a warrior. He had no idea that protecting a young, inexperienced Immortal like Dylan Black could be so difficult. Little did he know that her talented gifts would be wanted by every Dark Immortal searching to gain power and control over this world. His desire to protect her from the darkness overwhelms him, but no more so than the desire to have her for himself. Can they survive the evil that lies in wait? Only when the keys come together, will they see the light through the darkness. Watch for the next addition of the Prime Immortals Dark Days coming soon!
My Thoughts:
I love the sci-fi "Twilight" type books, and this is one of them. I was intrigued from the first paragraph on, and finished this book in one day. I like that each chapter is either from Dylan's or Alessar's point of view, so you get the really know the characters, and understand where they are coming from. The writing is impeccable, and I am so excited to read the next book in this series! Excellent story-telling from the author!
About The Author:
One moment, one decision, one mistake can alter the course of life in a split second. The Prime Immortal series was born out of that split second. As a busy wife, mother and business owner, juggling life’s demands is exhausting. On a cold October evening I was driving home after a very long day. Having just spoken to my husband to tell him I was only a few minutes from home, exhaustion took over and I fell asleep at the wheel. After the accident I regained consciousness, knowing all too well that I was badly beaten and broken. My head was propped against the only window in the vehicle that wasn’t shattered and I instinctively knew not to move it. Pain radiated up and down my left side and I was going into shock. Yet, with all the trauma that had been done to my body, the one thing that I remember the most was the cold. Freezing wind was whipping and blowing, pushing snow into the van and quickly creating an even more deadly situation. It was then that a sudden calm came over me and I heard a voice. Who was the voice, you ask? It could have been the voice inside my head, as many have speculated, but I don’t think so. I believe it was the voice of my angel. Yes, an angel, the same angel who has been with me all my life, protecting and guiding me in all of my endeavors. He told me to call for help. Amazingly, the phone I had set on the dashboard before the accident was in my hand, even though the van had rolled multiple times and ripped off both axels. I made the call and I began to cry. It wasn’t long before another angelic voice spoke to me and said “Don’t move; you’re doing great.” The emergency responders arrived and extracted me from the now crushed minivan. The trip to hell had begun. Suffering from multiple injuries, including a broken neck, I struggled through pain and agony for months. It was a very dark time in my life. In a body cast and halo, my abilities were limited, with the exception of my imagination. With the love of my children and a deep love of writing, I began to fill the hours with writing. Most of the stories I wrote were dark and mysterious, but pain can change a person and I definitely had my share of pain. I began looking into life and death and the meaning of each. Finding I was intrigued by both, it was then that the good versus evil, light versus dark theme emerged for this series.
