Choice Matters

Choice Matters by Paul & Barbara Gerhardt

About The Book:
This is a book about choice. It is about the choices we can make and the choices we would like to make, but which are forbidden to us. The choices are not only personal, but societal, as well. This book takes the position that freedom to choose is important. It is essential to ultimate happiness and to a truly free and just society. True freedom means choice. Choices discussed include Abortion, Birth Control, End-of-Life situations, Health Care, Drugs, Education, Government, Politics and Population.
It is also a book full of the opinions of two people, Barbara and Paul, who have spent most of their lives together, loving, caring, bitching, moaning, questioning, discussing and trying to find the answers to some of the vexing problems we face in our society. We hope that our personal opinions and concerns will generate thought and discussion on the many subjects which are brought to the forefront in Choice Matters.

My Thoughts:
This book is basically the opinions of two people on a variety of topics. It was a very interesting read to learn about what others opinions were versus my opinions on these topics. This book sure makes you think, and it does get a conversation going. Jason talked for a long time about some of the topics in this book, and we shared our thoughts. A very different book, but definitely one worth the read!

About The Authors:
Barbara and Paul Gerhardt are the co-authors of Choice Matters. Born and raised in Chicago, they both attended the University of Colorado. Paul majored in political science and, after 3 years in the service, he served for thirty years as the executive director of the American Accounting Association. Choice Matters is his second book. Barbara worked in real estate and as a property manager. In addition, she has written and illustrated two children's books. The Gerhardts have lived in Sarasota, Florida for the past 39 years, during which time they have hashed and re-hashed the questions and concerns which provide the basis for Choice Matters. Their book seeks to stimulate thought and discussion on a myriad of issues and illustrate the importance of well thought-out, pragmatic choices in our personal and public lives.
